English Premier League leader Liverpool won 6-0 against Blackburn at Anfield in a friendly match, after concrete 91 days break suspension due to COVID-19.
The first goal was scored by Sadio Mane in the 10th minute, and by the end of the first half among the scorers were, Naby Keita (23) and Takumi Minamino (36). Joel Matip (68), Ki-Jan Hoever (69), and Leighton Clarkson (84) also scored goals in the continuation of the match.
Interestingly, Jurgen Klopp tried out as many as 23 players and Blackburn coach Tony Mowbray 22 players.
“For us, this was not just a preparatory match, but a really important test. It looked really good, but everything was weird without the fans. Football wouldn’t be a game without the fans. We love it because of the atmosphere and all that, but it’s ours now situation, so we have to accept that, ”Klopp said.
He also referred to the new protocol in which the match took place.
“The guys went home without a shower right after the game. I have no idea how it will work when we play outside of our stadium. We want to focus entirely on football and whatever happens around us, we will accept it.”
Liverpool awaits the city derby against Everton at Goodison Park on June 21, In the first round of the sequel.
To earn the winning title the Reds need two more wins in the remaining nine rounds.
