reports that Robin van Persie snubbed both Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo for Ballon d’Or and listed the three stars he thinks needs to be on the podium.
Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski will earn football’s most prestigious individual award, claims the retired Arsenal and Manchester United star.
The two names to reach his top three list are Premier League pair Kevin De Bruyne from Manchester City and Sadio Mane of Liverpool. Since 2006 it would be for the first time that neither Messi nor Ronaldo placed in the top three if Van Persie’s prediction comes to life.
Ahead of the pair only Luka Modric (2018) has captured the award since 2007, although Lewandowski, De Bruyne, and Mane have never been placed within the top three.
