Lewis Hall leaves no chance to impress the boss. Despite Chelsea losing to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup semifinals, Graham Potter sees Lewis Hall‘s performance as a huge plus. The Blues’ chances of winning a trophy in 2022–23 have been eliminated after losing 2-0 to the Premier League champions at the Etihad Stadium. The 18-year-old full-back Hall caught Potter’s attention in a rare senior appearance for the England U19 international, giving Potter reason for optimism inside his ranks.

I really appreciated his performance, Potter told the press of the academy graduate who missed the target a few times. He accepted responsibility, moved the ball in tight spaces, approached the box, and on a different day, he might have scored a couple of goals. So overall, I felt it was a pretty great and mature performance. Although he is quiet, he goes about his work. His performance has definitely impressed me.

With three losses in the team’s last four games across all competitions, Potter continued, “I thought there were quite a few positives” in Chelsea’s overall performance. We are obviously upset with the outcome, but in terms of our play, we had some nice chances and a higher level of organization and performance.

Compared to Arsenal, the team appeared more like what we wanted it to. The boys tried against a superior team with tremendous bravery. Their goalkeeper won player of the game, which, in my opinion, somewhat reveals the situation. But altogether, I believe it was a positive move for us. The Blues will play their final Premier League match before the World Cup break on Saturday when they take on Newcastle at St. James’ Park.
