Bayern Munich’s new coach Julian Nagelsmann will rotate his squad when the German club will kick off their DFB-Pokal campaign against Bremer on Wednesday. Robert Lewandowski and Manuel Neuer will be ruled out for Bayern Munich’s DFB-Pokal football match against Bremer on Wednesday, according to Julian Nagelsmann.
The head coach will be rotated as Bayern kicks off their season against a fifth-tier side at Werder Bremen’s Weserstadion. After falling to Holstein Kiel in the second round of last season’s competition Bayern Munich is aiming to reclaim the trophy.
With the Bundesliga side taking four points from their first two games and retaining the Supercup after a 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund, Nagelsmann has presided over an unbeaten start to the new season.
In addition, the head coach has stated that ahead of the trip to Bremen he will rest some of his senior players. “Manuel [Neuer] will be rested, as his foot has flared up again, as we expected,” he said at the press conference. “He won’t travel to the game.”
“Neither will Robert [Lewandowski], he will stay behind and do some intensive training here. The same goes for Leon [Goretzka]. For them [Bremer], this is a once-in-a-lifetime game. In the end, the fact is that we need to and want to win, which means that we need to remain focused on the task at hand.”
