Barca president Laporta remarked: “It is historical justice; He is the best of all time and he deserves it” at the debut of the documentary series “FC Barcelona: A New Era” on Amazon Prime Video. Laporta’s sentiments were echoed by Blaugrana head coach Xavi, who added: “I’m ecstatic for Messi because he deserves to win the World Cup. He is both my friend and the greatest player in history. One of the best World Cup finals ever was this one.”
Barcelona, who are presently leading the Liga title race and competing for hardware on several fronts, has been connected with a bid to bring Messi back to the club in 2023. Xavi continued by saying that his team is “ready” to pick up where they left off after the World Cup. Xavi went on to say: “In La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup, the Europa League, and the Copa del Rey, we are still in the game. We are prepared to face off. We aim to achieve success.”
On December 31, against neighborhood rival Espanyol in La Liga at Camp Nou, the Catalan club will resume competitive play. Messi will return to Paris Saint-Germain for their Ligue 1 match against Strasbourg on December 28.
