Frank Lampard did not leave Antonio Rudiger out of his squad for Sunday’s clash with Liverpool, and calmed down rumors linking the defender with a move away from the club.
Coach said the preparation of his rival defenders impressed more which made the absence of Rudiger.
“We have five center-halves at the club and I can’t pick a team that has three of them on the bench,” he told reporters after the game, which finished with a 2-0 loss for the Blues.
“That’s the way it is, by training and conditions, I have to pick a team and that was the option today.”
