Manager Frank Lampard told reporters on Monday that for the Premier League match at Crystal Palace on Tuesday, Chelsea will be short of midfield options with both N’Golo Kante and Mateo Kovacic injured.
“Kante’s not going to be in the team. He hurt his hamstring, it is a low-level hamstring injury, perhaps he needs a week before returning,” Lampard told reporters in a virtual news conference.
“Kovacic has practiced with us but would not be able to do so. Tomori Fikayo had a setback, hopefully, he’s back next week.”
With 57 points out of 33 matches, Chelsea is fourth in the table, one point behind Leicester City and two points ahead of Manchester United in the top four finish battle.
