Jurgen Klopp, head coach of Liverpool has acknowledged a question about whether the club is planning to buy a centre-back due to injuries to the team’s players.
“Look, I don’t know. But we are going to try. It’s funny that you’re all thinking, ’Oh, it’s OK for Liverpool, they don’t care, they won’t try [to buy a defender], ” said the coach to .
“We’re trying, but there’s nothing to say until something happens. We’ll see. What happened yesterday has not made things easier, but we still want to do the right thing. If it is possible, we will do it, if not – no.”
“The situation is the same as before. We are working on it all the time. We’ll see.”
Liverpool is currently without central defenders Virgil van Dijk (cruciate ligament) and Joe Gomez (knee joint), as well as midfielder Fabinho (muscle), who has been playing in the centre of defence recently, due to injury.
