In the 2022–23 Indian Super League season, Kerala Blasters were soundly defeated by ATK Mohun Bagan in front of their home crowd. Dimitri Petratos scored a sensational hat-trick at Kerala Blasters’ home field to enable ATK Mohun Bagan to earn their first victory of the season.

Only six minutes into the game, Kerala Blasters broke the tie since they were the superior team. But as the game progressed, Mariners took control and scored additional goals toward the end after pulling off an incredible comeback in the first half.

The Performing Side:

Dimitri Petratos: The Australian forward made a sensational entrance into the ISL. He was constantly in the final third, and it paid off with three excellent goals.

Joni Kauko: In addition to playing the typical straightforward football moves in the midfield, Kauko was incredibly helpful. He also scored a spectacular finish from the edge of the box to extend his team’s lead and establish control over the game.

The Losing Side:

Hormipam Ruivah: After Bagan decided to flood the attacking third after scoring their first goal, the young defender’s marking and overall defensive abilities were exposed as lacking.

Ashique Kuruniyan: The Malayalee wing-back, who often dominates Bagan’s left flank, struggled to do so throughout the first half and had to be replaced by Shubhashish Bose.

Dimitrios Diamantakos: The main reason Diamantakos didn’t commit many straightforward errors was that he was never “there” at the conclusion of opportunities. When Bagan seized control, he vanished, and the attacker failed to capitalize on the opportunities he did have.

Vishal Kaith & Prabsukhan Gill: In a game that included seven goals, it may not come as a surprise to learn that two goalkeepers were declared losers. For the goals he allowed in, Gill appeared anxious in goal, and Kaith’s play remained bad in back-to-back games. Kaith needs to immediately turn things around.

The Defensive Side:

Kerala Blasters rating: After Bagan switched up their strategy halfway through the first half, Kerala Blasters had trouble.

ATK Mohun Bagan rating: Since Blasters got off to a strong start in the first half, Bagan’s defense appeared to be completely lost. They did manage to keep their opponents to two goals, which is respectable given the eventual result.
