Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz wants to depart Bundesliga and has an intention to join a club that has not qualified for next season’s Champions League, BBC reports.

The 21-year-old has been linked with Chelsea and Real Madrid as he wants to quit the Bundesliga club this summer.

Havertz finds a club’s long-term strategy just as essential.

On Tuesday Chelsea host Norwich, are third in the Premier League but lead fourth-placed Leicester and fifth-placed Manchester United by one point.

On Monday Manchester City’s European ban was removed, following that next season only the top four will qualify for the Champions League.

Havertz is left with two years on his existing deal, he can also play as a forward.

Germany international has scored 17 goals in 43 games for Leverkusen this season.

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
