Jose Mourinho intends to drive Tottenham into the Europa League but has distinguished to Lewis Hamilton winning Formula Two in the competition.
“The Europa League isn’t Europe’s greatest contest,” he told a news conference.
“So that’s the second one, so whether a team wins the Champions League or an athlete wins it or a manager wins it, then, if you ask Lewis Hamilton if he needs to conquer Formula Two or Formula 3000 or whatever you name it, I don’t believe it’s going to be too hard for him.”
“But it’s a rivalry and I tend to play Europa League rather than not. I believe that’s a championship that Tottenham would like to have. At [Manchester] United, of course, it’s a team with a layer that thinks of the Champions League, but we’ve played in the Europa League and we earned it.”
“I believe we will do whatever we can to qualify next season in the Europa League and we will be preparing for that.”
“I’ve only played Europa League twice in my career and won it twice, it wouldn’t be bad to compete a third time and earn a third. We have to battle until the end until seek and finish off in a place in the Europa League.”
