Jose Mourinho shares views on Roma star El Shaarawy. In light of Jose Mourinho’s rumors surrounding the Portugal national team position, Stephan El Shaarawy has expressed his stance on whether the manager will remain at Roma. The Portuguese FA (FPF) fired Fernando Santos after the Seleccao lost to Morocco in the 2022 World Cup quarterfinals.

Mourinho has already been mentioned in connection with the position, and GOAL has confirmed that Fonseca, the head coach of Lille, is a serious candidate to succeed Santos. El Shaarawy has now publicly stated that he thinks Mourinho will stay at Roma and has praised his influence at Stadio Olimpico.

The Roma winger El Shaarawy shared a statement: “We have never discussed the likelihood of Mourinho leaving with him. We believe the coach is intently focused on Roma, our objectives, and succeeding here as we all always are.”

Mourinho added: “He is constantly there in every circumstance. Even in the way he communicates with us in the locker room, during the game, and by giving us the appropriate cues. We observe him to be calm; he is a kind and instinctive man, therefore I believe Roma is right now what matters most to him. Everyone here hopes he can stay for a long time.”

Roma is now wrapping up its midseason training camp as Mourinho is visiting them in Portugal. According to reports in Italy, the manager will decide on his future after the current campaign and has wanted promises on signings to long-term strengthen the team.

In the meantime, departing Netherlands head coach Louis van Gaal has also applied for the Portugal position, although the FPF has not yet made a decision. When Roma faces Bologna on January 4 in their first Serie A match back, Mourinho will be back in charge.
