The Golden Boot title is intended for the best scorer of the championship and Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has become the oldest winner.

Vardy is on the top of the list of scorers with 23 goals this season.

Last season the title was obtained for 22 goals and it was shared by Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah of Liverpool along with Aubameyang.

To finish the season, at the top of the list of best scorers the 33-year-old Englishman is the ninth English player surpassing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Arsenal and Danny Ings of Southampton who scored 22 goals each.

Vardy played in the fifth tier of English football for Fleetwood Town, as a 25-year-old eight years ago.

Vardy won the title despite failing to score in the final round in his home side’s defeat of Leicester by Manchester United (2-0). With this defeat, Leicester missed the chance to qualify for the Champions League, so they will play in the Europa League next season.

In the 2015/16 season of Premiership, he scored 24 goals becoming the English champions with Leicester, and that was enough for him to take second place behind Harry Kane, who scored a goal more.
