Lead Seville’s opening goal against Real Betis should not be conferred the penalty considers former referee Andujar Olive but VAR has been helpless in converting the decision.

Marc Bartra was arbitrated as having fouled Luuk de Jong with a backward move, and Oliver maintains that the video assistant could not edit Mateu Lahoz’s penalty decision because the player made contact with the Dutchman.

“It’s not a penalty for me,” Oliver told Radio MARCA.

“VAR can’t stop the referee because there’s touch, but there are thousands of those acts in a match so I don’t think it’s enough to assign a penalty,” he added.
