Thanks to goals from Stefano Sensi and Ciro Immobile, Italy won its third game in a row in World Cup qualifying Group C.

Italy’s perfect start to World Cup qualifying continued with a 2-0 victory over Lithuania.

In the 47th minute, Sensi’s goal placed them ahead, and Immobile, who had squandered many golden opportunities, netted a penalty with the game’s final kick.

Immobile’s previous squandering would have been costly if it hadn’t been for Gianluigi Donnarumma’s brilliant save from Tautvydas Eliosius, who set the stage for the Lazio forward to make amends from the penalty spot late on.

Roberto Mancini’s side took a three-point lead at the top of Group C on Wednesday, due to the absence of main rivals Switzerland.
