The 41st match of the 8th season of Hero Indian Super League was played on Boxing Day between Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC, where both the attacking teams celebrated Christmas by sharing a point each. The football match played between Kerala Blasters and Jamshedpur FC was a tie at 1-1. After this draw, the Kerala team’s undefeated streak has reached the “seventh sky”. Head coach Ivan Vukomanovic’s team lost only the first of eight matches they played. Kerala has leveled up one point reaching a third place with 13 points but is still lagging behind Jamshedpur on the basis of more goals being scored.
Coach Owen Coyle’s team has moved up to second place with three wins and four draws from eight matches. Kerala has also won three matches and played four draws. The Boxing Day blockbuster played at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco da Gama was quite exciting. Aggressive football was seen from both Jamshedpur and Kerala. While Jamshedpur dominated the first half, Kerala’s team played better after half time. However, both the goals came before half time and the game looked a bit slow in the second half.
However, Jamshedpur dominated for the first half an hour and Kerala’s defense was under pressure due to continuous attacks. However, Kerala was seen giving ample reply on the counter attack. Kerala appeared to be in color with the passage of time after Greg Stewart’s world-class goal. So, Sahal Abdul Samad’s equalizing goal came to the fore. Thus the score was tied at 1-1 before the interval.
