Jamshedpur FC defeated ATK Mohun Bagan 2-1 in the Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22 match played at the GMC Athletic Stadium in Bambolin on Monday. In Jamshedpur’s win, Seiminlen Doungel scored in the first half, and substitute Alexandre Lima scored a goal in the second half. For Mohun Bagan, Pritam Kotal scored a goal at the end of the match.
After this victory, Jamshedpur FC has moved to second place in the points table with eight points from four matches, while Mohun Bagan’s team has to face defeat for the second time in a row and they have scored six points in four matches. It has slipped to fifth place. Jamshedpur midfielder Jitendra Singh was given the Hero of the Match award.
Jamshedpur FC took a 1-0 lead in the 37th minute of the match with a goal from Seiminlen Doungel. The Manipuri winger had to leave the pitch after scoring the goal, as he had injured his leg while attempting to snatch the ball from the opposition player and was replaced by Boris Singh. Alex doubled the lead for Jamshedpur FC in the 84th minute replacing Scottish forward Greg Stewart.
After five minutes, the struggle of the players of Mohun Bagan paid off. When Bagan defender Pritam Kotal reduced the score to 1-2 in the 89th minute. The goal was somewhat controversial, as Pritam took advantage of the opportunity to push the ball into the net while the Jamshedpur players kept demanding offside, but the referee recognized the goal.
