Indian Super League: Chennaiyin FC held a draw with Mohun Bagan

Chennaiyin FC restricted ATK Mohun Bagan (ATKMB) to a 1-1 draw in the Indian Super League (ISL) football competition on Saturday. With this, the Chennai team has reached the third place in the points table of the league. Liston Colaco had given ATKMB the lead in the 18th minute of the match but Vladimir Koman scored in the 45th minute, which helped the Chennai team to equalize the match and share the points.

Prior to this football match, the Chennai team was at the fifth position in the table but with a one point lead, it has now reached third place. ATKMB remains sixth in the ISL table with two wins, two losses, and one draw from five matches. After creating a few chances in the early moments, ATK Mohun Bagan finally got the breakthrough in the 18th minute. Liston Colaco scored a fine goal with the help of Roy Krishna to put ATKMB 1-0 ahead.

As the match progressed, Chennai also regained its momentum. Anirudh Thapa and Lallianzuala Chhangte created excellent chances in the 29th and 32nd minutes but could not convert them. The team got a corner in the 41st minute, which could have been a goal opportunity but ATKMB goalkeeper Amarinder Singh made a brilliant defense. In the 45th minute, however, Koman did not give Amarinder any chance and made the score 1-1 while scoring. Koman scored this goal with the help of Lukas Gikevich.

In the second half, both the teams were competing to get ahead but both managed to blunt each other’s attack. No one was successful in scoring in this half and both the teams were forced to share the points.
