Chennaiyin FC, performing brilliantly in the 8th season of Hero Indian Super League (ISL) 2021-22, came out to take on Odisha FC in the 33rd match. In this match played at the Tilak Maidan Stadium in Vasco da Gama on Saturday, the team of Chennaiyin FC has captured third place in the points table after winning 2-1. In this football match, Germanpreet Singh and Mirlan Murzaev of Chennaiyin FC scored one goal each in both the halves. With their third win this season, coach Bozidar Bandovic’s team Chennaiyin FC have jumped two places in the points table to reach the third position with 11 points from 6 matches.

On the other hand, this is the third defeat for the team of Odisha FC in 6 matches played so far, due to which they have slipped to the 5th position with 9 points. The first half of the 33rd match of the ISL saw fast-paced football, with both the teams fighting for control of the ball as attacks were launched from both sides. During this, Chennaiyin FC not only managed to score goals but also dominated the midfield.

The trio of captain Anirudh Thapa, Germanpreet Singh, and Vladimir Koman kept the pressure on the opposition team with a stellar performance in the midfield. There were more attacks from Chennai’s side and many shots were fired towards the target while their defenders always stopped the Odisha team. In the first half, both the teams got some chances but in most of them both the goalkeepers faced a lot of trouble.
