Harry Kane returned to Tottenham on Friday and could play his first Premier League game against Manchester City, the side with which the England captain has been linked to a football transfer. Kane failed to show up at Tottenham last week for medical fitness check, which angered fans over his apparent interest in joining City and saw just a five-day quarantine at the London club’s training ground.

Manchester City is interested in Harry Kane, but for the time being, he remains a Tottenham Hotspur player and has retained his number 10 shirt for 2021-22 on the official club website.

With Manchester City target Harry Kane keeping the number ten shirt, Tottenham has announced their squad numbers for the upcoming season. Since the 2015-16 season Kane has worn number 10 for Tottenham Hotspur but the England captain appears to want to leave the club.

On Thursday, it was reported that Kane, who is set to return to Spurs training on Friday, would be the subject of a second offer from City worth around £150 million. Kane was named as one of the Spurs players to be assigned a squad number for the upcoming season despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side will kick off their Premier League campaign against Manchester City on Sunday and it remains to be seen whether Kane will play. Tottenham manager Santo said he spoke to Kane during training and “everything is fine”. “He’s getting ready. We still have tomorrow’s session to decide whether Kane will play against City. We have to think and we have to decide tomorrow,” Nuno said.

Asked if Kane would be in the right spirit to play against City on Sunday, Nuno said: “I’m not worried about trying to persuade players to play for Tottenham. It’s such a big club, it’s such a great club. We should be proud to be here.”

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
