Erling Haaland’s readiness to face Leicester City will not be decided by Pep Guardiola until after Manchester City’s last practice. The international player from Norway was replaced at halftime of City’s Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund due to a fever and a foot issue. Even if the setback is not thought to be serious, Guardiola will wait before deciding whether he will be ready to play against Leicester in the Premier League on Saturday morning. Guardiola responds on Haaland’s injury.

Guardiola stated of Haaland, “He feels more comfortable, but we’re going to train this afternoon and we will review within a few hours.” We’ll wait to make a decision till we know how he feels. Julian is typically the first choice to play false nine if Erling is not prepared, but I don’t believe this will happen in this case. He will score goals if he plays 90 minutes per game, maybe not as many as Erling, but he will score goals.

With 22 goals in just 16 games, Haaland has enjoyed a fantastic start to life at the Etihad Stadium. Although he suffered from injuries when playing for Dortmund in the Bundesliga, a new-look City has yet to face a challenge without Haaland in the starting lineup, and Alvarez will be eager to seize the moment. Guardiola’s team plays Sevilla in their last Champions League group match at the Etihad after the Premier League match against Leicester on Saturday, with the group’s top spot already secured.
