In the 4-0 victory over Southampton, Erling Haaland scored once, although Pep Guardiola quipped that he should have had a hat-trick.

The striker for Manchester City has scored in all ten of his most recent games, including his last seven in the Premier League. Haaland had also scored a hat-trick in each of his previous three Premier League games at the Etihad Stadium, and he had a chance to add another goal, but he hit the inside of the post with one shot and missed a close-range Kevin De Bruyne cross.

I’m furious with him because he only scored two goals. There is a petition to remove him from the Premier League because of this. In his post-game presser, Guardiola made light of the situation. People here have such high expectations that they anticipate him to score three or four goals per game. But he was there to score it in the end. Erling played admirably tonight, in my opinion, and he helped us out once more by fighting and holding onto the ball.

According to Southampton manager Ralph Hassenhuttl, the presence of Haaland affected how his squad was positioned defensively, with two center-backs being instructed to stop him. The Norwegian nonetheless found space in spite of this, and his powerful strike in the 65th minute was as anticipated.

Pep Guardiola, manager of Man City, admits that Jack Grealish will never be a high scorer and claims that once he starts scoring, the floodgates will open for Grealish.

In the Champions League, City travels to Copenhagen where a win would ensure progression to the round of 16, followed by a pivotal matchup against Liverpool the following Sunday.
