Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola is assured that this summer Eric Garcia will move to Barcelona. The Spain international has only performed four times in the Premier League this season. In favor of a return to the Catalan Giants, Garcia has turned down a new contract offer from Man City, but an official announcement is yet to be made about the 20-year-old.

On the other hand, Guardiola believes that ‘one of his favorite stars’ will be able to join Ronald Koeman’s side after his deal will terminate at the Etihad Stadium by end of this season. Before joining Manchester City in 2017, Garcia developed in Barcelona’s academy and has been actively associated with a return to his boyhood club on a free transfer.

Man City obtained the Carabao Cup title defeating Tottenham Hotspur by 1-0 in the EPL final. Following the win, Pep Guardiola addressed the media in a press conference and talked about future of Eric Garcia and his move to Barcelona.

“There are players even who don’t play any matches. I think, for example, of Eric Garcia who is one of my favorite players,” Guardiola told reporters according to the Metro.

“I would love to have 15 Eric Garcias for the way he conducts his behavior. He is always thinking of the team. He’s always a good face in the good or bad moments. He helps the manager and the backroom staff all the time.”

“He will go in an incredible team and when the people say they are unsatisfied if I don’t play, I think of Eric. Most of the time he’s not on the bench because he’s going to move to Barcelona, I hope so. It’s tough, but it is what it is.”

As City won their fourth consecutive Carabao Cup in a 1-0 victory over Tottenham on Sunday, the defender was out of the squad and so far he has appeared in 10 competitive games this season.

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
