Glazer Family releases a statement on Man United’s sale. According to the Glazer family’s announcement, they are “exploring strategic alternatives” for the team, which may include selling Manchester United. Immediately following initial rumors that the Glazers would be amenable to a sale, United issued a statement on their official website reiterating their stance. The Glazers stated they are devoted to the “best interests” of the club’s fans, shareholders, and stakeholders, and that any move would be part of an effort to improve the club’s prospects from both an infrastructure-related and commercial perspective.

The declaration marks a turning point after 17 years of contentious ownership. Because of the Glazers‘ lack of investment and their role in the European Super League fiasco, United’s fan base has participated in several rallies. Since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure from the league in 2013, the team has yet to win a Premier League trophy. The statement continues, “Latham & Watkins LLP will serve as the Glazers’ exclusive financial advisor, and Raine Group will serve as their legal counsel.” Raine Group assisted in completing the sale of Chelsea from Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich earlier this year.

The 1.1 billion fans and supporters that makeup Manchester United’s global community are passionate and devoted, the Glazers claimed in the statement. The Board has approved a thorough examination of strategic options as we work to maintain the Club’s track record of achievement.

To make sure we can best serve our supporters and Manchester United can take advantage of the huge growth potential that is currently and in the future open to the Club, we will carefully consider all of our choices. We will remain entirely committed to looking out for the interests of our supporters, stockholders, and other stakeholders throughout this process. Previous possible suitors will be on high alert to take over, even though any potential sale is likely to take time. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, a wealthy United supporter, is just one of the people who have previously been associated with the team.
