Bayern Munich starts the season in style with an impressive 6-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt.

The visitors quickly laid down a marker in this game: Kimmich opened the scoring within five minutes when he netted with a wonderfully inventive 35-yard free-kick.

And Pavard quickly doubled the lead with a fierce strike. Frankfurt was constantly outnumbered at the back in the first period and conceded chance after chance.

It was no surprise when Mane made it three, and Bayern ruthlessly added more before the breakthrough of Musiala and Gnabry.

The game was over as a contest by the interval, but Frankfurt had the consolation of a strong performance from substitute Kolo Muani – the striker looked lively and pulled one back when he tackled Neuer.

There was still time for another Bayern goal, though, and they got it when Musiala finished coolly late.

Starting lineup:

EINTRACHT FRANKFURT (3-4-2-1): Kevin Trapp; Almamy Toure, Tuta, Evan Ndicka; Ansgar Knauff, Sebastian Rode, Djibril Sow, Filip Kostic; Jesper Lindstrom, Mario Gotze; Rafael Borre.

BAYERN MUNICH (4-4-2): Manuel Neuer; Benjamin Pavard, Dayot Upamecano, Lucas Hernandez, Alphonso Davies; Thomas Muller, Joshua Kimmich, Marcel Sabitzer, Jamal Musiala; Sadio Mane, Serge Gnabry.

GOAL! KIMMICH! 1-0. Bayern takes an early lead. Kimmich lines up a free-kick from 35 yards, facing the smoke from the home fans. The midfielder craftily opts to take an audacious shot at goal, and it catches Trapp out! Kimmich’s effort bounces into the bottom corner with the goalkeeper left scrambling and unsighted!

GOAL! PAVARD! 2-0. Frankfurt struggles to clear their lines following Kimmich’s corner. Eventually, it falls to Muller, whose strike deflects into the path of Pavard, who lashes an eight-yard strike into the far corner beyond a motionless Trapp!

GOAL! MANE! 3-0. The visitors slice through Frankfurt again. An intricate move ends with Gnabry getting to the byline and lofting the perfect cross for Mane to head home soon!

GOAL! MUSIALA! 4-0. Bayern pours forward again, and a beautiful move ends with Muller tapping it around Trapp, allowing an unmarked Musiala to nudge it into an empty net!

GOAL! GNABRY! 5-0. Mane beats Rode to a loose ball and find Muller, who instantly flicks it through to Gnabry! Gnabry approaches Trapp before dinking it over the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner!

GOAL! KOLO MUANI! Frankfurt pulls one back. 1-5. Kolo Muani has worked incredibly hard since coming on, and the striker gets his reward. He hassles Neuer from a back-pass and eventually tackles the panicked goalkeeper before rolling it into an empty net from 20 yards!

GOAL! MUSIALA! Sane releases Musiala with a short pass, and the attacker keeps his balance under pressure from Hasebe before rolling a low finish beyond Trapp from eight yards!
