In a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday, Cristiano Ronaldo scores a hat-trick in Portugal’s 5-0 win over Luxembourg. Keeping his team in contention for a World Cup berth Manchester United forward once again led Portugal to win over a hapless Luxembourg.
Before halftime Thill had a terrible game, failing to deal with Portugal’s outstanding midfield trio of Palhinha, Moutinho, and Fernandes. In a hesitant showing from the Sheriff man, the Luxembourg midfielder let away the first penalty against Bernardo Silva and won none of the four duels he competed for.
Ronaldo scores a hat-trick in a 5-0 match score game as Portugal remains in the race with group leader Serbia. In just eight minutes Ronaldo opened the scoring at the Estadio Algarve, netting from the penalty spot before quickly doubling his tally in the same manner. In a dominant first 20 minutes, Bruno Fernandes scored his third goal before assisting Joao Palhinha for the game’s fourth goal in the second half.
With three minutes remaining, Ronaldo completed his hat-trick to seal the hosts’ overwhelming performance and keep them a point behind Group A leaders Serbia, who have played one more game, ahead of the next international break.
