After seven years Willian is leaving Chelsea. This was confirmed from the Brazilian’s Instagram account where he announced his departure writing an open letter to fans.
“It’s been seven amazing years. In August 2013, when I received an offer from Chelsea, I was sure that this where I need to play. Today I’m sure it was the best decision. There were so many happy times, some sad ones, there were trophies, and it was always very tense.”
“Nevertheless, in addition to trophies, I learned a lot about myself. I developed, became the better player and person. With each training session, with every game, with every minute spent in the locker room, I always learned.”
“I am really grateful to Chelsea fans for their warm welcome to Stamford Bridge and their support throughout my time at the club. There was also criticism that is normal, but what is important is that both affection and criticism made me always give my best in every training session, in every game, to constantly improve until the very last minute in a Chelsea shirt!”
“It’s time to move on. I’ll definitely miss my teammates. I will miss all the staff of the club, who always treated me as a son, and I will miss the fans. I leave with my head raised high, knowing that here I won and always tried my best in a Chelsea shirt! I am sincerely grateful to all of you, and God bless you!“.
Willian played 339 games in Chelsea, scoring 63 goals and making 62 assists.
