To come back better from the ACL injury that will hold Virgil van Dijk sidelined for the near future, Georginio Wijnaldum, the Liverpool midfielder, has embraced his teammate.
After a wild challenge from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, the 29-year-old center-back picked up the injury and is likely to miss the remainder of the current campaign since having surgery to help repair his knee.
For any competitor to come back from it is one of the worst injuries, but Wijnaldum told VI that he knows Van Dijk is healthy enough to conquer adversity.
“Virgil will return with God’s will,” Wijnaldum said. “It is a difficult time for him; this is the worst thing you can experience as a football player.”
“You go through hell. But I think he is very strong. We FaceTime every now and then and that is very nice.”
