West Ham United is said to be interested in signing Giovanni Simeone from Hellas Verona. Giovanni is the son of La Liga football club Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone. the 26-year-old has been in excellent form for the Italian club Hellas Verona this season. So far he has scored nine goals in 11 Serie A outings, including seven goals in five games last month.
According to the Daily Express football news, Simeone has been on West Ham’s radar for some time and now ahead of the upcoming winter transfer window he thought to be at the top of their striker shortlist. The Hammers negotiated a potential loan agreement for the Argentine over the summer, which included a £14 million buyout option, but the deal fell through, as per the source.
Diego Simeone son Giovanni was instead signed on loan by Hellas Verona from his parent club Cagliari, with the option to make the deal permanent next summer for about £10.2 million. The Spaniard joined Cagliari in 2020 from Fiorentina but later moved to Hellas Verona in 2021 on a loan deal.
David Moyes is still looking for a new centre-forward to provide more competition for Michail Antonio, the club’s star following the January departure of Sebastien Haller to Ajax. Clermont striker Mohamed Bayo, Arsenal’s Alexandre Lacazette, and Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic have all been connected with West Ham.
