Dominic Calvert-Lewin decreed the late opportunities that Everton surpassed Liverpool to break their Merseyside derby misery.
The international England Under-21 told Sky Sports, “Yeah, at the end it was all instinct, we had a couple of opportunities, but it wasn’t our day.”
“Sometimes they get in, sometimes they don’t and sadly that didn’t happen today.”
“Take the point well, but that was a great opportunity for us today,” Calvert-Lewin spoke out conceding a Merseyside derby without fans.
He responded, “It was weird, I can’t lie to you”. “It was a little bit bizarre for a game of this magnitude to play without atmosphere and without fans.”
“The position normally bounces and has been challenging to get used to. And that for a living, we are playing football so it’s all about concentration.”
“The other aspect that differs is that even when they are all cheering you get the slight uplift from the crowd.”
“That had to come from within today, which I believe we did, and we were unfortunate not to nick it.”
