The No.10 jersey should be removed from all teams following the Argentine icon’s death in dedication to Diego Maradona, says Marseille coach Andre Villas-Boas.
“It’s very bad news, as well as the loss of a member of the board [at Porto] who really mattered to me who was the first person to open the door for me to the world of coaching,” he said as per Beinsports after his side’s 2-0 loss to Porto on Wednesday in the Champions League.
“And Maradona, yeah, it’s tough news, I’d like FIFA to retire the No.10 jersey for all teams in all competitions.”
“That would be the best tribute we could give him. It is an unbelievable tragedy for the football community.”
