Sweden played against Georgia in the first leg of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Among other things, Zlatan Ibrahimović‘s big return to the national team made the Swedes’ match important.
However, before the hosts organized a good state for themselves, it was the guests who had the chance for a goal.
In the 14th minute, Grigol Chabradze found himself in a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper, but Kristoffer Nordfeldt intervened well.
The Swedes finally made a threatening attack in the 35th minute. Zlatan had the right touch and passed to Viktor Claesson, who found himself well in the penalty area and scored. Thus, Sweden led 1:0 until the break.
Nothing much happened on the pitch after the change of sides and neither team was able to create convenient opportunities.
Albin Ekdal struck in the direction of the goal but failed to beat the rivals’ goalkeeper in the 81st minute.
The score remained unchanged until the end and Sweden won against Georgia 1-0. the Swedes will face Kosovo in the next round, and the Georgians will take on the Spaniards.
