Edison Cavani is highly linked with a move out of Manchester United this summer, admitted head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Manchester United is struggling to retain Edison Cavani for the next season.
The Red Devils are unwilling to let go of the stryker and are fighting hard to keep him at Old Trafford.
Since joining United last summer Edison Cavani is said to be unsettled at Old Trafford and looking forward to a return to South America with allegedly agreeing to sign the Boca Juniors contract.
United boss Solskjaer said: “I’ve kept in touch with Edi of course. We keep an open dialogue and he’s still unsure what he wants to do next season, which I find fine.”
“It’s not been an easy year either for him or the rest of the world, this season, so he still wants time to make his mind up.”
“We have had upfront and honest meetings. There’s no secret, we want to keep him.”
“I don’t think it’s any secret that this has been a difficult year for everyone, with the pandemic, it’s not been possible to have friends over, family over, to travel, he’s not been able to experience the fantastic culture of Manchester and England.
“He’s contemplating and thinking hard and long about what he wants to do, and I understand. He knows what I want, him at Old Trafford at the Stretford End scoring a diving header, there’s not a better feeling. So let’s wait and see.
Speaking with ESPN and as reported by Manchester Evening News, Marcos Rojo revealed that Cavani seems interested in a move to Boca Juniors as well.
“I think he speaks very well of the club and Argentine football.
“When I told him that there was the possibility of coming to Boca, he told me that he had also spoken with Roman and that he liked the option very much, that he would be interested in the future.
“He has to make that decision with his family.”
The Uruguayan international has the opportunity to serve United for a second year at United, but he is yet to make his decision. This season, the striker has scored seven goals in 28 appearances although being sidelined for injury issues. He is reported to be out of contract at the end of the season with Boca Juniors considered as his most likely destination.
