Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has shared his impression after the result of the first leg match against Porto in the Champions League quarter-finals. Tuchel hails two players after Chelsea sealed a 2-0 win over Porto in the Champions League. In each half, Mason Mount and Ben Chilwell scored two vital goals for the Londoners.
In a press conference following the match, Chelsea’s boss commented about his side’s victory.
“The match against Porto was difficult. We had our moments when it wasn’t easy. But we accepted it. The team had a good attitude and we got a superb result,” Tuchel said to BBC.
“There was a lot of composure from Chilly. It wasn’t so easy to score late because it was a physical and demanding match for him. We had a not so precise pass but Chilly was able to profit from the mistake of the defender and he stayed very calm.”
“He isn’t used to scoring so it was pretty impressive and gave us a big advantage. It was a big step to score a second goal,” added Tuchel.
“Mason is an important and key player for us and I am happy he fits into this role at a young age. It is good to have him.”
“There is a good atmosphere in the dressing room, we are happy but not too happy, excited but not too excited,” said Chelsea’s coach Thomas Tuchel. “We have to have a top mentality and a top performance next Tuesday.”
“Together we achieved a lot of great results, and then we lost together, after which, together again, we reacted in the right way. That’s how we became closer and had more faith in each other,” concluded Tuchel.
