Tottenham moves closer to Champions League spot thrashing Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur England striker Harry Kane marked 22nd first league season goal to help his team win 2–0 at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday, which intensified their offer to provide European football for next season. Tottenham won a well-deserved 2-0 win over Wolves, moving closer to the Champions League spot securing sixth place in the Premier League table with two games remaining.

After Kane’s first strike at the end of the first half, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg scored n the 62nd minute from Tottenham’s second possession, which lifted Ryan Mason‘s team to sixth place in the standings.

The league’s top scorer Kane hit the break when Conor Coady blocked his header at the goal line with the England defender, erasing a follow-up shot from Giovani Lo Celso.

Hojbjerg saw Kane with a place in the back and played as the England captain, who took the ball into the area and showed his cool to keep Coady on and get a calm finish after Rui Patrício sank.

Spurs hit the post twice in the seconds immediately after the break, but eventually doubled their lead in the short run. Gareth Bale placed bets on the way to Danish midfielder Höjbjerg, who ran in a square of six yards to touch the ball at home.

The Wolves rarely threatened and the Spurs were comfortable going up to 59 points, with Chelsea playing two matches, five points from fourth place. Tottenham is placed sixth two positions away from Champions League spot and four points behind Liverpool, who sits fifth with a game in hand. The Wolves finished 12th.
