Timo Werner: last six months at Chelsea were not the hardest but a lesson

Chelsea forward Timo Werner has spoken out on a poor start to his career with the London team.

The German scored against Newcastle breaking his 13-match goalless streak, on February 15 in the 24th round of the EPL.

“The period when I didn’t score was the worst of my career because I’ve never missed so many big chances. I had never scored in such a long time, so I was very happy it was over two matches ago. It was hard without those feelings,” said Werner to Sky Sports.

“Looking back on my six months at Chelsea, it’s not the hardest time of my career. The upside is learning something new. When you have a goal drought, you learn something from yourself.”

“You learn a lot about how to deal with those situations. It was the best time to learn more new things. On bad stretches you learn the most, that’s exactly what happened last month.”
