The Evening Standard reports signing Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, Chelsea dotted the I’s and crossed the t’s on their deal for £53million.
This week the transfer will be officially completed after being smoothed by the coronavirus pandemic, acknowledges Standard Sport.
The German striker’s £53million release clause expires today.
The move has worked with Covid-19 restrictions clouding the medical process since the first news broke that the Blues had closed in on Werner earlier in June.
Becoming the second summer addition in Chelsea, Germany International will sign a five-year agreement worth £ 200,000 a week, following a contract for Ajax’s Hakim Ziyech in February.
