Tiemoue Bakayoko back to AC Milan on loan

Tiemoue Bakayoko has returned to AC Milan again on loan from Chelsea. Last season he was loaned out to Napoli and has now moved to Italy after being loaned to Milan. Bakayoko has agreed on a two-year loan deal, the club has confirmed the latest transfer news on the official club website.

“AC Milan is delighted to announce the signing of [Bakayoko] from Chelsea FC on a two-year loan, which could turn into an obligation if certain conditions are met,” the Rossoneri said in a statement. Midfielder Bakayoko previously played for Milan in the 2018-19 season, then he made 42 appearances across all competitions and scored one goal under head coach Gennaro Gattuso.

Last season also the 27-year-old also played in Italy but with Napoli, where he worked with Gattuso again. The Frenchman will be seen playing alongside his Chelsea teammates Fikayo Tomori and Olivier Giroud at San Siro as he returns to Milan and will stay until 2023.

“Tiemoue Bakayoko will spend this season back in Serie A after joining AC Milan on a two-year loan. The midfielder returns to the San Siro for a second spell with Milan until 2023, having previously represented the club during the 2018/19 campaign, and knows the league well after also spending last season at Napoli,” Chelsea confirmed the football news on their website.

Since starting in the FA Cup final victory over Manchester United in May 2018 Bakayoko has not played for Chelsea. During that season, he appeared in 43 games, scoring three goals and providing three assists.

Tiemoue Bakayoko is now undergoing an AC Milan medical ahead of joining the club from Chelsea on a two-year deal with an option to buy. According to reports, Milan is expected to pay between €1m and €1.5m for the loan, potentially worth up to £1.3m to Chelsea, and will part with €15m (£12.8m) if the obligation is triggered – a significant loss on the £36m the Blues paid for the France international four years ago.
