This is how Slovakia and Spain would lineup in Euro 2020

Slovakia and Spain will face off in Seville on Wednesday with Group E of Euro 2020 still wide open. Slovakia is placed second while Spain sits one point and one spot below them in the standings. In their most recent match, Spain had to settle for a 1-1 draw with Poland while Stefan Tarkovic’s side lost 1-0 to Sweden.

Team news

Slovakia lineup: Dubravka; Pekarik, Skriniar, Satka, Hubocan; Kucka, Hromada; Haraslin, Hamsik, Mak; Duda

Ivan Schranz and Denis Vavro ruled out for Slovakia’s football match tonight, the latter is tested positive for COVID-19.

Head coach Stefan Tarkovic could make one change from the side that lost to Sweden last week, with Lukas Haraslin coming into the XI on the right.

Spain lineup: Simon; Llorente, P.Torres, Laporte, Alba; Busquets, Koke, Pedri; Moreno, Morata, Olmo

Sergio Busquets is available after recovering from COVID-19, and Luis Enrique must now decide whether to start with the Spain captain.

Rodri would be the midfielder to make way if the Barcelona player starts.

After missing a penalty against Poland, Gerard Moreno could come off the bench with Ferran Torres starting out wide.

Slovakia is one point ahead of Spain as they move to the last round of group games, a position they did not expect to be in before Euro 2020.

To advance to the next round of the tournament, Spain will need to win here after back-to-back draws with Sweden and Poland. The previous match between these two teams was in 2015, when La Roja won 2-0.

For Spain, Sergio Busquets’ return is a significant boost and despite their lack of goalscoring ability, you’d expect them to find their stride in this must-win match.

Slovakia do not need to go all out in search of a spectacular triumph against Spain, as a point would be enough for Tarkovic’s side to earn a top-two finish and a place in the elite 16.

The talent at Luis Enrique’s disposal makes a Slovakia clean sheet extremely tough to predict, and while La Roja hasn’t had it all their own way so far, we still anticipate them to deliver when it matters most and advance to the knockout stages.

Our Prediction: Slovakia 0-1 Spain
