This week Marc-Andre ter Stegen is expected to undergo surgery as Barcelona’s goalkeeper is suffering a knee problem.
“After having a consultation with the medical staff, the first-team member Marc ter Stegen will do a voluntary surgical operation on his right patellar tendon tomorrow [Tuesday] conducted by the specialist Dr. Ramon Cugat,” read a statement on the club’s website.
“It’s a proactive measure that’s already being taken to prevent and prepare for the future, as the man had some tendon irritations earlier in the season.”
Ter Stegen has announced on Twitter details of his operation, saying: “I’m going to have an intervention for my knee tendon. The medical experts and I were discussing doing a ‘clean-up’ as earlier this season, there were certain irritations.”
“I’ll take a couple of weeks to heal to get back to 100%. I’m calm about the situation and hopeful, I’m going to come back soon.”
“Thanks once again for all the support which I have received. I really appreciate it!”
