Sweden vs Ukraine prediction and lineup

On Tuesday evening, Sweden will take on Ukraine in Glasgow after their late victory to win Group E last week, which unknowingly helped Ukraine advance to the last 16. With both Euro 2020 campaigns having taken very different paths thus far, the first elimination round’s final encounter will face an in-form Swedish team against a severely unlucky opponent – who qualified with only three points and a negative goal differential. Here is all you need to know about Sweden vs Ukraine prediction and lineup for Euro 2020 football match.

Team news

Sweden lineup: Olsen; Lustig, Lindelof, Danielson, Augustinsson; S. Larsson, Ekdal, Olsson, Forsberg; Quaison, Isak

The only real question on the side is who starts up front with no one looking particularly convincing alongside Alexander Isak.

Should Sweden take a chance and start Dejan Kulusevski or Emil Forsberg in front of Isak or stick with Marcus Berg?

Ukraine lineup: Bushchan; Karavaev, Matviyenko, Zabarnyi, Mykolenko; Malinovskyi, Sydorchuk, Zinchenko; Yarmolenko, Yaremchuk, Tsyhankov

After being sent back by Austria in their last group encounter, Ukraine may think about how they set up against Sweden on Monday.

Ruslan Malinovskiy may now be worried about his place in the team, he was hooked at halftime in the defeat to Austria.

With Serhiy Sydorchuk looking far from dazzling at the base of their midfield, Taras Stepanenko will attempt to reclaim a starting berth in the team.

Ukraine will miss Denys Popov and Oleksandr Zubkov due to injuries.

Prediction

Ahead of Spain being undefeated in their last eight games Sweden finished first in their group, after beating Poland in a five-goal thriller.

It was predicted that Ukraine would register first place defeating the Netherlands in their group, but they ended up finishing in third place.

Though Ukraine has enough attacking potential to break down a staunch Sweden defense at some time during the 90 – or possibly 120 – minutes, the Swedes haven’t lost in a while for good reason.

The Blagult can snare the win and advance to the next round with their own set of final-third threats, as a little collective togetherness goes a long way in tournament football.

Our Prediction: Sweden 2-1 Ukraine
