Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson and the rest of Merseyside received congratulations from Luis Suarez after they secured their first Premier League title.
On Thursday for a domestic glory, Liverpool ended a 30-year wait and Jurgen Klopp and the team got overwhelmed with the messages from supporters, analysts, and former players.
In 2014 Suarez and Henderson both played alongside when they nearly won the title together under Brendan Rodgers. Seeing former club finally become champions made Barcelona star delighted.
He told LFC TV: “Jordan and all the other Liverpool players, I am so happy for you and your family, and for the people working in Liverpool and the Liverpool fans.”
“I hope you enjoy this time because it’s amazing for the Liverpool supporters… you are the champion!”
Suarez posted another video live on his Instagram and Henderson, who was handed the armband of the captain in 2015, explained how difficult it was on two occasions to come so close.
“I’ve been close last year, very close, and 2014 I was close again and both [times] lost out to City,’ he told the club website.”
“So yeah, this does feel really special for me personally but also I’m so happy for my team-mates, for the fans, for the club as a whole, because they’ve been waiting so long for this Premier League title. ‘I’m just so proud to be part of this football club and this group of lads; they deserve it, I know how hard they work every day in training.”
“What we’ve done over the past couple of seasons, I’ve felt we’ve deserved to win Champions League, the Super Cup, the Club World Cup and now the Premier League. ‘Now it’s about keeping that going, staying hungry and keeping going and I’ve got no doubt that the players at this football club will want to do that.”
