In the 6th round of the Spanish Primera Atletico Madrid beat Getafe in the end time. Luis Suarez hit the ball in the very last minute of the football match, saving a 2-1 win from a draw. The win moved Atletico to first place in the standings with 14 points from six matches, while Getafe are down without points.
Atletico Madrid’s Luis Suarez scored two late goals to give La Liga champions a 2-1 win over Getafe when their hosts were reduced to 10 men in the second half. The home team worked hard to get off the middle and as a result, keeper Stefan Mitrovic had a good chance to make a comeback in an attempt to pick up the ball. Unfortunately, Atletico’s Jan Oblak put up a disastrous performance.
Getafe played the final leg of the match with 10 men, when Carles Elena was shown a red card in the 74th minute as he pulled his pin behind substitute Atlético Matheus Cunha’s leg. The visitors needed a galvanizing send and a brilliant double save by David Soria to stop Angel Correa and then Suarez in the draw.
But 10 men were able to stay out for so long, and Atletico equalized when Suarez controlled a cross from substitute Mario Hermoso with his right foot before tossing the ball into the net with his left in the 78th minute. Uruguay snatched up the winner in extra time, going over their scorer Mitrovic with a cross from Sime Versalco in the 90th minute.
