Sterling’s starting goal was enough for Manchester City to win over Arsenal

In the Premier League, the Manchester City players achieved their 13th consecutive victory, defeating Arsenal 1-0 (1-0) as guests in the 25th round.

Sterling was the only goalscorer to net a goal in the 2nd minute of the match when he headed Mahrez’s cross from behind Len.

Sterling was left unmarked to jump up and glimpse Riyad Mahrez’s cross from the right beyond Bernd Leno, having already sliced deep.

In his last five Premier League appearances against Arsenal, Sterling had been involved in six goals heading into Sunday’s game, and inside the opening two minutes, he added to that count.

After 30 minutes of domination, City instead took their foot off the pedal but Ederson only had one save to make as City kept their excellent defensive record.

Hunting for an eighth straight victory over the Gunners, City made a supreme start in all competitions, which was capped by Sterling’s 13th season goal for the club.

While they eventually worked towards victory, City has now won their last 18 games in all competitions, and there is no sign of slowing their march towards the title.

Leading City now has 59 points, 10 more than second-placed Leicester City who beat Aston Villa 2-1 (2-0) earlier Sunday as guests, and 13 more than third-placed Manchester United, which will host Newcastle United from 8 p.m. Arsenal remained 10th with 34 points.
