Spain vs Argentina prediction, team news and lineup – Tokyo Olympics

On Wednesday, Spain Under-23s will conclude their group stage matches against Argentina Under-23s with the goal of finishing first in Group C at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Spain has one more point than Argentina, Both teams have only scored once in their first two games, currently third on goal difference behind Australia. Here is everything you need to know about Spain vs Argentina football prediction, team news, and lineup for Tokyo Olympics.

Team news

Spain

Spain has no injury or suspension concerns heading into Wednesday’s match, with many of their players having represented Spain at the Euros.

Dani Olmo, Oyarzabal, Pedri, Pau Torres, and Eric Garcia, who all started Spain’s last game against Egypt, were among those who competed in the senior Euros tournament.

Pedri has been a constant for De la Fuente’s team at the Olympics this summer, but his midfield partner has changed in the first two games – Mikel Merino and Dani Ceballos started against Egypt but were replaced by Carlos Soler and Martin Zubimendi in the final game.

Argentina

Argentina’s Ortega served his one-match suspension against Egypt on Sunday, and he could be replaced in the starting lineup by Claudio Bravo, who impressed when he came into the lineup in Ortega’s absence last time out.

Batista used a more attacking formation against Egypt, and because they need to beat Australia on Wednesday, he is expected to use the same 11 that won three points on Sunday.

Prediction

Last Thursday, Luis de la Fuente’s team opened their 2020 Olympic campaign with a goalless draw against Egypt, a game in which the Spaniards dominated the ball but were ineffective in front of goal.

With a high percentage of possession in their favor, Spain has been able to limit their opponents’ chances on Unai Simon’s goal, and they are the only country yet to concede at the Olympics this summer.

Argentina must play catch-up on Wednesday after only one win and one loss at the Olympics this month, and even a win over Spain will not guarantee a place in the quarter-finals.

It is unlikely that Argentina will manage more than a single goal against Spain. The Spanish haven’t been scoring freely either, so this game could be one of few goals and is expected to be a tight affair.

Lineup

Spain Under-23s possible starting lineup: Simon; Cucurella, Torres, Garcia, Gil; Zubimendi, Soler, Pedri; Olmo, Oyarzabal, Puado

Argentina Under-23s possible starting lineup: Ledesma; Bravo, Medina, Perez, De La Fuente; Vera, Payero; Barco, Allister, De la Vega; Gaich
