Sheffield United almost won their first Premier League season against Brighton

In a tight first half, with Neal Maupay coming close on two occasions, Brighton had the better chances. However, just before half-time, the game was turned on its head when John Lundstram was given a red card for a strong challenge on Joel Veltman, leaving the fate of the Blades on the edge of a knife.

On Sunday afternoon, Sheffield United almost won their first Premier League season victory but conceded late on to draw 1-1 on the south coast with Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Blades were camped in their own half for significant portions of the second 45 minutes, but they stunned the Amex Stadium by executing a perfect counter-attack, allowing debutant Jayden Bogle to fire home and bring the men of Chris Wilder ahead on 63 minutes.

When Danny Welbeck chested down and rifled a ball into the net from inside the six-yard box, the Seagulls huffed and puffed to draw level and they got their break with three minutes left on the clock. Neither team was able to find a winner and they split the points.
