With a 2: 1 victory over Manchester United, the Sevilla footballers confirmed that they are the best and most successful team in this competition.
They are waiting for the winner of the match between Inter – Shakhtar, to face them in the finals on Friday.
Bruno Fernandes’s (9-11m) goal helped Manchester United to take the lead, Suso equalized (26) and Sevilla’s final was secured by De Jong (78).
Manchester United took the lead in the very opening of the match, Rashford entered the penalty area, fought for a shot that was blocked, but after the striker of the English team sent a shot Diego Carlos kicked him in the legs and the referee Brych awarded a penalty kick which Bruno Fernandes converted a goal in the 9th minute.
Sevilla reached an equalizer in the 26th minute when United withdrew and left the initiative to Sevilla after taking the lead, although they started the duel violently.
However, the Seville players threw the ball into the game with their hand though, at the very beginning of the action, the referees overlooked that the Seville player was the last to play the ball in his own half of the field and was supposed to be an out for United. A long ball followed for Reguilon on the left-wing, and this one saw Susa run at the second goalpost who scored safely for 1: 1.
The goalkeeper Seville Bounou became famous though, in the first 10 minutes of the second half, Manchester United created several great opportunities.
In the 46th minute, Bounou stopped Greenwood’s shot with a fantastic reaction, and then ‘disarmed’ Martial, Pogba, and Bruno Fernandes.
Sevilla ‘killed’ the tempo of the match, after happily avoiding a new drop in the deficit, and in such a lullaby, they reached the advantage in the 78th minute. Munir sent a cross from the right-wing, which Lindelof took lightly, so De Jong crept up behind him and calmly overcame De Ge from five meters.
Manchester United tried to reach the goal with spontaneous attacks in the end, which would take the duel into overtime, but they no longer managed to create any promising opportunities.
Inter – Shakhtar match is scheduled for Monday in Duesseldorf and whichever team wins will be opponent to Sevilla in the final on Friday in Cologne.
In the Europa League final, this season will be Sevilla’s sixth appearance, earlier it has won in all previous five finals, in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, and 2016.
