In the third minute of the match when Youssef En Nesyri gave Sevilla the lead, it seemed that everything was going the way of Julen Lopetegui’s charges. Nothing could be further from the truth. Edgar Mendez equalised shortly after. After half an hour, the visitors got back into the lead thanks to Suso.
With the locals failing to capitalize on a penalty kick in the 90th minute, Sevilla eventually won against Deportivo Alaves 2:1.
Alaves had the ball in the net for the third time at the end of the match, but after a VAR analysis, Ximo Navarro’s goal was disallowed.
Deportivo could have equalized at the end. Jules Kounde played with his hand in the penalty area and Joselu scored. Bono was able to sense his intentions and made an excellent save.
