To examine the club’s near future Barça HQ has ended its emergency conference, Sport reports.
Club president Josep Maria Bartomeu met Quique Setien and it was determined that Barça’s match against Alaves should be taken over by the coach until any decision can be reached over the week-long post-season break.
Until preparation resumes ahead of match against Napoli in the Champions League, the team should have six days to rest once LaLiga is completed.
Over this period, Setien and the club should focus on the campaign, the team’s requirements, and how to train for European competition.
Barça has no plans of sacking Setien by the conclusion of this new campaign and as such, the manager will stay for the Napoli game in the dugout. If Setien wants to step away before next month’s rivalry resumes then that’s the only way things will improve.
Barca can fly to Lisbon to play in the Champions League quarter-finals if they Defeat Napoli.
Setién felt hurt for both the result and Messi’s comments after the match against Osasuna when they face the winner of the match between Chelsea and Bayern.
He believed they were direct criticism of his time in the dugout.
