Ronald Koeman: Lionel Messi is not a veteran star of Barcelona

Ronald Koeman says Barcelona team-mates have to improve and doesn’t ask more from Lionel Messi.

Ronald Koeman called on the coach to step up before winning against Elche on Wednesday. Lionel Messi was not amongst the veteran stars of Barcelona. 

The Barca number 10 is absolutely out of questions after increasing his 2021 tally to 13 goals in all competitions, most of any player in Europe’s five’ leagues.

“When I talk about veterans, I don’t mean him,” Koeman said claim beinSPORT. “Leo continues to score many goals.”

“Others have to make a difference, not Messi. He continues to score, as he has shown today.”
